Bloom Where God Plants You

It is so important for all of us in this challenging economy to live in the present. When we do this God can use us in amazing ways. So many of us think that the grass is greener somewhere other than where we are. “ If I only had another job, or wife, or husband, or new home, or new car, or new clothes, or could travel more, or had more money etc.
Like flowers that can bloom and thrive in a variety of circumstances, we too can live our life filled with challenges and triumphs, easy ones and hard ones, but we too can thrive like “the lily’s of the field who toil not” right where we are. We must learn that God plants us just where we are for a reason and a purpose.

The key to understanding this is through Prayer. It is then that we can listen to His still small voice and to understand just what His purpose is for us now, in the moment of every day.

It is important that we put our energy towards problems or challenges that are most important to us. The mistake we all make is to “Major in Minors,” and focus and waste time on things that really are not important. It is important to put God first in everything that we do. When we pray for guidance and wisdom then each trial or each challenge becomes easier. When we trust God for our wisdom we can rest in the knowledge that He is in control. If he can make the sun shine and the tide come in, He can guide our lives as well.

Besides Faith in God, Family is the second most important thing we need to Bloom with. When our spouses or our children disappoint us or don’t’ live up to our expectations, we need to love them anyway. In the movie “Fireproof” it shows how a husband and wife overcome their own selfish desires and turned to God for AGAPE love that pierces through any kind of relationship challenge. AGAPE love comes from God and is the only kind of love that stands the test of time. It is Fireproof! When we nurture ourselves Spiritually and nurture our family as well, we are being obedient to God’s plan for our life. We can do this whether we live in a mansion or in a tiny one bedroom apartment. In an article by Howard W. Hunter, he tells us: “The family is the most important unit in time and in eternity and, as such, transcends every other interest in life.”

There is a book titled: “Acres of Diamonds” that talks about how everyone looks for wealth and happiness everywhere but where they are and then eventually end up finding it in their own backyard. In Psalm 16:11 it says: “You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy.” God is with us wherever we are and wherever we are His plan is perfect to make us Bloom Where we are Planted.
