Bret, a graduate of Fuller Seminary, has been in pastoral ministry for 18 years, serving in SE Alaska, and SE Washington. Some 18 years prior was spent in children's, youth, and young adult ministry, making a total of almost 36 years of ministry leadership.
Bethany has enjoyed all the privileges and challenges of a pastors wife including front row seats to Bret's sermons. She has also been a teacher and superintendent of the children's Sunday School program, choir director at both churches, and an invaluable support to her husband Bret.
Bret & Bethany have 8 children ranging in age from 23 down to 14 months, and 2 pre-term babies in heaven. They homeschool their children in an effort to “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 They are currently in the process of homesteading on 20 acres in Idaho. A log home will go up sometime in the next year, and they look forward to the peacefulness of the forest.
Both Bret and Bethany have felt God's calling on their lives to serve pastors/spouses and their families. As Standing Stone shepherds, they hope to come along side ministry leaders around the Pacific Northwest and beyond with the hand of friendship. “We pray God will use us to serve these shepherds and their families so they in turn can continue to share the Gospel of Jesus.”
Our prayer for the shepherd who is hurting, that you may know, “You are not alone!”
