Carlos is a pastor at a church in Santa Ana, California. His ministry has included gang members, victims of abuse, drug addicts, and all who have been affected by that lifestyle. He leads numerous outreach programs and homeless events in the community.
Growing up in Orange County, California, Carlos at a young age became involved in gangs, drugs/alcohol and violence. By the age of 18 he faced the loss of many friends through diseases, gang violence and overdoses. He was in and out of jail numerous times over the years and eventually was sent to prison. It was during a 16-month period of solitary confinement in Corcoran state prison, that he met the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. As he fully surrendered his life to Jesus, and stepped away from the destructive path he was on, he truly began to experience the "new creation" life spoken of in 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Carlos has been in ministry/pastoring for over 10 years and is a compassionate shepherd and gifted teacher of God's Word. In addition to Sunday services, Pastor Carlos & his wife Wendy teach “Marriage Matters" classes, men’s and women’s bible studies and do various outreach ministries like “Laundry Love” in the community.
During his years in ministry he has faced times of isolation, loneliness and betrayal like he had never experienced before. Even after deeply challenging times in his life brought on by prison, crimes and assaults on others nothing hascompared to the pain and suffering he has experienced in ministry. Carlos understands it is not an easy walk and appreciates that pastors need mentors, leaders and helpers in ministry. He knows God did not intend for anyone to do His work and will on their own and that we need one another. With that knowledge, Carlos has a heart for the pastors/leaders/ missionaries who need a place of transparency without judgment.
Carlos shares, “Sometimes we can be imprisoned and truly affected by things that we have no knowledge about. It’s not until we open up and discuss it that we can confront and finally deal with it. I want to be that ear, friend or person other pastors can come to.”
Carlos and Wendy are blessed with a blended family including kids; Russell (24, newly married and living in Kuwait), Gracie (21), Eddie (16)and a black Labrador retriever named Ranger.
Their foundation scripture is: Colossians 1:28-29
“So, we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ. That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me.”
