Jeff Myers has served in ministry in Southern California for almost 30 years. He has experienced the ups and downs of church work as a pastor to youth and young adults as well as a campus lead pastor for Rock Harbor Church. Part of Jeff’s journey is that he has served in several churches that have experienced moral failure among the leadership and he’s helped play a restorative role in those communities. This experience coupled with his own story of battling depression and anxiety in ministry has been instrumental in his becoming a Standing Stone shepherd.
In 2013, to confront the depression, Jeff enrolled for two years in a coaching cohort with Dr. John Townsend where he gained critical self understanding and soul healing. This training became so instrumental to his work as a pastor, Jeff became certified under the Townsend coaching model. Since then he has implemented those skills in the local church where he has witnessed deep growth and healing among church members who learned to connect emotional health and discipleship. He is currently developing a ministry of emotionally integrated discipleship through Freedom Center, a spiritual direction and life coaching ministry in Orange County, California in partnership with Vox Community Church.
Jeff and his wife Lisa have been married for 24 adventurous years and have four kids ranging from 8 to 20 years old. Their story together includes founding a non-profit ministry for kids that “age-out” of the foster care system. This experience led to them adopting their youngest daughter from foster care in 2014.
Jeff and Lisa were introduced to Standing Stone through a week long SS retreat. They immediately fell in love with the philosophy of shepherding shepherds in ongoing relationship. They know first hand the challenges of finding safe confidential relationships inside the same church community where one is in leadership so they deeply desire to be that safe place for others.
