James and his wife Jean both grew up in South Korea as missionary kids. They are high school sweethearts. They have travelled the world together. Korea, Japan, Germany and the USA are places they have called home. Jim and Jean’s theme verse is Psalm 139:16b – “all my days were written in your book and planned before a single one of them began.” HSB. Different places, different jobs, different life experiences, and even in the midst of tragedy, God has always proven He’s got it, knows the plan, and in the end is going to be glorified.
James and Jean have 3 wonderful children who were homeschooled. James and Jean served in both local and state leadership positions. They love the Chicago Cubs and going to Wrigley Field to see them play. And yes, they cheered wildly when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016.
James has served in the Air Force, sold cars, worked in warehousing, been a business consultant, a substitute teacher, owned several businesses (the favorite being a golf course), and served in numerous ministry positions. He has taught Sunday School, served as Youth Director, served as Family Ministries Director, Worship/Choir Director, and Pastor. In all of this, God has proven He knew what was going to happen and was leading the way. Retrospect is sometimes required to see God’s hands at work and to realize you weren’t “just flapping in the wind.”
Lots of jobs. Lots of experiences. Been there, done that. Have lots of t-shirts. Joy overflowing. Crushing heartache. “ ...So that we may be able to comfort...” 2 Cor. 1:2-6. James now believes God would have him come alongside others, helping them to realize God has all of their days, they are not alone, and that God WILL see them through.
