Shepherd - Retreat Shepherd

Kevin comes to Standing Stone Ministry with over 37 years’ experience in pastoral ministries. He has served in several ministry positions including executive pastor and senior pastor roles. He has served churches in Florida and Indiana. In the last 6 years he has also worked as an independent consultant with True North Strategic Advisors Non-Profit division helping churches with their strategic planning to focus, develop and to specifically identify their vision, mission, and core values.

In addition to serving in local congregations, Kevin has also served with the Pastors In Prayer Ministry (PIP) for nearly 20 years as the treasurer and assisting the founding pastor of the ministry, Bob Yawberg, in encouraging and counseling fellow pastors. In 2016 Kevin assumed more of the pastoral role meeting with pastors and church leaders in the Northeast Indiana area. In the summer of 2018 Kevin began serving a full-time role of leading the ministry while Pastor Bob continues to be an active part of the ministry in Bradenton/Sarasota area in Florida.

Kevin holds bachelor’s degrees from Johnson University in Bible and preaching, Huntington University in organizational management, and a Master of Science in management from Indiana Wesleyan University. He also holds a certificate of leadership from the Beeson Leadership Institute from Asbury College.

Kevin and Cindy, his wife of 43 years, currently reside in Roanoke, IN and have lived in the Fort Wayne area for 33 years. They have 4 adult married children and 7 grandchildren.

As God continues to lead and open doors of opportunities for serving and ministry through SSM, Kevin has depended on God’s Word to be The Guide Book for direction and purpose (Psalm 119:105). While there are many verses in the Bible that a pastor might use as a life verse, there are three that have been foundational for Kevin throughout his ministry.

Proverbs 16:3,9

Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed…We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

Micah 6:8

He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
