Dave West

Dave and his wife, Clare, have been married for over 30 years and have known the pressures on those in leadership and how these affect family life. Whilst serving God in the USA they began a Spirit-led adventure of home-schooling and are grateful to God for all they have learnt in educating their 4 children (now 3 adult children, one teenage son, and one grandson). Dave has served in various leadership roles within the church since before he was married and has a deep desire to see leadership walking "freely and lightly" with Jesus to enable the body of Christ to be healthy and passionate.
With a background in engineering he has a gift of seeing a big picture as well as the detail and working out what may be happening in various situations. He made a deliberate choice to leave this behind and use these gifts to help and empower people instead of things. Dave desires to create a safe space for leaders to express whatever they need to in order to find freedom and joy in their ministry.

Dave has trained with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and served in areas of Discipleship, Worship leadership, Family Ministry and Leadership Development in three continents.
He loves to work as part of a team and see the dreams of others fulfilled as they serve together. This is currently expressed through the ministry of a prayer family known as "The Guild", the UK part of which he has the privilege and honour of serving as chairman to the leadership team. Also, as part of the core team for "Family Encounters", a ministry of YWAM UK Family Ministries.

Whilst working with young men in a therapeutic community for the last 18 years, Dave has learnt so much about himself and accepting and walking with others through a process of restoration and healing. He has experienced the feelings of inadequacy, rejection and failure as well as the joys and excitement of serving an extraordinary God.

Dave, Clare and their teenaged son Josh really love the pace and lifestyle of narrow-boating on the canals. With so much expectation to live life at great speed this is, to them, the fastest way to slow down.
